How Tutees Are Assigned to Tutors

  1. When you, the tutor, and a tutee are paired up, the Coordinator of Student Services will send an email to the tutee with your name, email, and telephone number. You will be copied on this email, although it is the tutee's responsibility to contact you to schedule the first session.
  2. The tutee should contact you within one week. If you do not hear from the tutee, please alert the Coordinator so that the tutee can be contacted. DO NOT WAIT!
  3. Each tutoring session should last at least one hour. It is recommended that start and end times be established out of consideration for tutors' and tutees' schedules. BE SURE TO HAVE THE TUTEE SIGN YOUR TIME SHEET.
  4. Timesheets are due on a weekly basis. If you have a home department outside of the Academic Resource Center, timesheets are due by 11am on Tuesdays (effective spring 2010). If the Academic Resource Center is your home department, timesheets are due by 9am on Wednesdays.  Time sheets must be turned in on time or payment for hours worked will be delayed.
  5. All tutoring sessions must be held in a reasonably quiet space. Under no circumstances should tutoring take place in a residential setting (i.e. in residence halls, townhouses, off-campus apartments, etc).
  6. Please inform the Coordinator of Student Services if a tutee cancels an appointment. Appointments should be canceled with 24 hours' notice. If shorter notice is given, you will be paid for a one (1) hour session. Likewise, if a tutee does not show up for an appointment, you will be paid for a one (1) hour session. You must email the Coordinator of Student Services notification of the cancellation in order to receive payment for that hour.
  7. If for any reason you are not able to make a session, please contact the tutee as soon as possible to reschedule. You will not be paid for sessions that you have canceled or for which you have not shown up.
  8. If you have any immediate concerns about the session, please contact the Coordinator of Student Services.
