What are the Academic Resource Center's hours? The ARC's summer hours are 9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00am-3:00pm on Friday. I am an incoming freshman. Will I receive the same accommodations as in high school? The Academic Resource Center strives to provide the most appropriate accommodations for each student based on documentation from a medical professional while encouraging students to take advantage of all available resources at Georgetown. It is not guaranteed that a student's accommodations at Georgetown will be identical to those provided during high school. I am taking summer classes at Georgetown but am enrolled at another university. Can I receive accommodations? Yes. Summer students must provide documentation from a medical professional; documentation from the student's home school's disability support office is not sufficient. Once sufficient documentation is received, the student must meet with and ARC staff member to determine accommodations and familiarize the student with policies and procedures at the Academic Resource Center. Can I receive an official diagnosis at the Academic Resource Center? No. Although students may sit down with Dr. Holahan for an evaluation of a possible disability, formal diagnoses are not made at the ARC. For documentation, diagnoses must come from a medical professional. Does being registered with Disability Support Services impact my academic record? No. Being registered with Disability Support Services will not show up on students' academic records. What is the process for making a test reservation? To reserve a spot in the testing room, students must be registered with the Academic Resource Center (see: Procedure for Requesting Accommodations). Students must pick up a test reservation form from the ARC office, fill out the student section, have the professor fill out his/her section, and return the form to the Coordinator of Student Services at least seven (7) days prior to the testing date. I am employed by the ARC and have questions about payroll. To whom should I speak? Please contact Clara Shea at cls86@georgetown.edu with any questions or concerns regarding payroll. I would like to be considered for medical housing. What is the process for requesting this accommodation? For all questions regarding medical housing, please contact the ARC medical housing team at medicalhousing@georgetown.edu. |
